Strategies

Which protection structure fits your situation?

Our strategies are built from evidence and adjusted for Kenya's legal, tax, and economic environment.

One framework, personalised to your life

A strategy is only as good as the assumptions underneath it — we show you ours.

Capital protection is not a single product. It is an architectural decision: what to hold where, under which legal wrapper, with which insurance backstop, reviewed on which cadence. At Forestvoyagex we begin every engagement with a capital-risk diagnostic that maps your assets, liabilities, dependencies, and time horizons before we suggest anything. Only then do we design a strategy. The strategies described here represent the core approaches we use — most clients end up with a combination rather than a single pathway.

Our core protection strategies

Four approaches, deployed individually or together depending on your circumstances.

Risk-Managed Portfolio Design

We construct multi-asset portfolios using instruments available to Kenyan investors — NSE-listed equities, government bonds, money-market funds, and regulated offshore allocations — and apply explicit drawdown limits. You know before you start what the worst-case scenario looks like in shilling terms, not in percentage jargon.

Insurance Wrapper Structuring

We audit your existing policies for gaps and overlaps, then layer in life cover, critical-illness riders, and income-replacement products from carriers rated by AM Best or local CMA standards. Every wrapper is sized to the liability it is meant to offset — not to hit a sales target.

Trust and Holding Structures

For business owners and multi-generational families, we work alongside registered Kenyan legal practitioners to establish trust deeds or appropriate holding arrangements. We explain what each structure can and cannot protect against — including the limits of ring-fencing in an insolvency scenario.

Long-Term Fiduciary Advisory

Our retainer advisory service provides quarterly check-ins, annual full reviews, and ad-hoc guidance when a major event — sale, inheritance, divorce, business exit — triggers a change in your capital position. This is ongoing stewardship, not a one-off report.

Questions clients ask before they commit

Straightforward answers to the things people wonder about but don't always ask.

Do you manage money directly on my behalf?

No. Forestvoyagex is an advisory firm, not a discretionary fund manager. We design the plan and recommend specific instruments or providers; you retain ownership and control of all assets. Execution sits with licensed custodians, fund managers, or insurers you approve.

Can you guarantee that my capital will not fall in value?

No adviser can make that guarantee honestly, and we never will. What we can do is structure your exposure so that the range of likely outcomes is clearly understood, tail risks are insured where possible, and you are not surprised by a loss you did not know you were taking.

What is the minimum asset level to work with you?

Our full advisory mandate requires a minimum portfolio of KSh 3,000,000. Below that threshold the economics of bespoke structuring do not work in your favour. We are happy to point smaller savers toward appropriate regulated alternatives.

Are your fees commission-based?

No. We charge a transparent advisory fee agreed in writing before any work begins. We do not receive introductory commissions from product providers; if a referral arrangement ever applied, we would disclose it in full.

How long does the initial diagnostic take?

The capital-risk diagnostic typically takes two to three meetings spread over two to four weeks, depending on the complexity of your asset base. You receive a written summary at the end, which you own regardless of whether you proceed with us.

A client's perspective on our process

“The diagnostic stage alone changed how I thought about our business assets. I had assumed the company structure was protecting me personally — it wasn't. Forestvoyagex spotted the gap, explained it without jargon, and we fixed it within six weeks.”
